Marketing 101

“A brand is a person’s gut feeling about a product, service, or company.”
Marty Neumeier – The Brand Gap

To help you build your brand you need to look at a number of elements, once you have these answered these questions, you can then start to build a brand.

Marketing 101 starts with the 7 P’s

You can use these to continually evaluate your business, whatever stage you are at, but you must start here so you understand all elements of your business.

  • What are you selling?
  • Look at it through the eyes of your customer

  • Are you selling your product at a competitive price
  • What are your competitors doing/

  • Ways in which to tell your customers about your product
  • This will need to be continually reviewed and changed

  • Where are you selling your product
  • Often you can use a mix of selling locations ie online / markets / retail.

  • This is the visual element of your product and often some of the first impressions a customer will get of your product
  • People make a buying decision within 30 seconds of seeing a visual element of your product

  • How do people think and feel about your product
  • What words do you and people use when describing your product

  • Who is going to buy your product
  • Who is your target market, and how best to reach them.
