1000 Jobs in 1000 Hours

1000 Jobs in 1000 Hours

GOAL: Find 1000 young adults work experience jobs within 1000 hours!

One of the #1 complaints we hear from our younger job seekers is “we can’t land jobs because we don’t have enough experience, but no one’s willing to give me the experience I need!”

At HireMeUp, we’ve made it one of our priorities to promote work experience opportunities for our youth because it’s such a vital step in one’s career path. Employers: By opening a window into your workplace, you could spark an epiphany that either confirms a young person’s career path or heads off wasted years following the wrong one. Not to mention all of the life experience a mere two weeks in your office can give to a young worker. It’s your chance to instill some of the work ethics and attitudes you look for in new hires.

Our first baby step was making all work experience job ads free year round on HireMeUp. Now, we have our sights set on something bigger… 1000 JOBS IN 1000 HOURS

We’ve just launched a new, not-for-profit initiative called “1000 Jobs in 1000 Hours” in which we hope to place 1000 eager young adults throughout Australia in two-week work experience roles within 1000 hours.

During April 2012, we’re on the hunt for employers to put their hand up to take on a work experience student (aged 15-to-25) for two weeks, unpaid anytime after 18 June.  We’ll announce the roles on 1 May and open up the application period which will run until 1 June 2012.

Placements will be announced 11 June 2012 at 4 p.m. (the 1000th hour!)

If you’re interested in getting involved as a “work experience seeker” or by providing a valuable opportunity to a young adult, visit 1000jobs.com.au and register.
